Can AI learn
a brand new holiday?

Roger That Day is an unofficial holiday I created for October 4. It's also my own test of the method: can an idea that didn't exist until this year get picked up and described correctly by ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, and Perplexity?

Site: Roger That Day Observed: October 4, every year Status: Live, first one this October

Why October 4. Why me.

October 4 is 10/4. On the radio, 10-4 means message received. So does Roger that. The date has been saying 10-4 every year, and nobody had answered.

I spent many years as an Operations Specialist in the Coast Guard, where radio was part of the job, so I answered. Roger That Day is a day to close the loop: reply to the message you've been sitting on, confirm the plan, let people know they were heard.

Roger That Day is an independent observance. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Coast Guard.

A clean test of the method.

My client work starts with businesses that already exist. They have reviews, customers, and years of mentions scattered across the internet that AI can pull from. That makes it hard to say exactly which part of the work moved the needle.

Roger That Day has none of that. Almost everything an AI platform can learn about it comes from one site I built.

If the answer engines start explaining Roger That Day correctly, it's because the page itself did its job. That's the cleanest proof I can offer that the method works.

One page, built to be the source.

A fast, hand-coded static site with every word in the page itself, so people and AI crawlers read the same thing.

  • A plain answer to what Roger That Day is, when it happens, and why, right at the top where both people and AI systems look first
  • A live countdown console, a seven-step observance checklist, and a Roger Hall of Fame where people can nominate someone who always follows through
  • A documented history of how "Roger" became radio shorthand, and a section on how the day relates to 10-4 Day, the CB radio tradition, so AI doesn't confuse the two
  • A full FAQ with structured data generated from the visible text, so the markup and the page can never drift apart
  • Custom analytics events for button presses, checklist completions, nominations, and shares, plus a footer credit that tracks visits back to Answer Visible

What I'm watching for.

The honest part: no results yet. The first Roger That Day is October 4, 2026.

I'm tracking whether the AI platforms start answering questions about Roger That Day, how fast it happens, whether they get the details right, and how much traffic the site sends back here.

When there's data, this case study gets its second half, good or bad.

If it works for a holiday, it works for you.

The skills that make a made-up holiday findable are the same ones I use for real businesses: a clear definition, structured data, and answers to the questions people actually ask.

See it at work for a barbershop in Clearwater, a pool company in St. Petersburg, and a financial counselor who works nationwide.

Roger That Day is every October 4. Send the reply you've been putting off.

Stay ahead of the curve.

When I publish new research or find something that's working in AI search, I'll send it your way. Only when I have something worth your time. Promise I won't spam you, I'm too busy testing this stuff myself.
